Muscle Gain Weirdness

Posted Feb 23 2011 5:57pm

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately.. I’ve had a lot going on, especially with work. I can’t go into details for obvious reasons but it’s been crazy!

Anyhow, I don’t have any pictures for you today, just some ramblings. Recently Joob posted some weirdness going on with her leaning out. Well I have some weirdness going on with my muscle gain!

For one thing, my thigh measurement has stayed the exact same, yet I have visibly more muscle and I can feel each muscle (anatomy nerd) and honesty can pinch very little fat on them. I haven’t gotten my body fat measured (nor do I plan to) but I can bet that my fat measurement went down on my leg. Could I possibly be gaining muscle and losing fat in some places? That’s what it’s looking like.. and I’ll gladly take it! My abs on the other hand have gained a little fat but I can still see some definition so it’s all good! I’m loving this muscle gaining phase and will continue for as long as I can.

Also, my lifts have made some MAJOR increases in the past couple weeks, and I’m stoked!!!

These are all for multiple reps- not my one rep max.

  • My squat is up to nearly body weight (deep squatting)
  • My stiff leg deadlift is now up to 155 pounds!
  • My Romanian Deadlift is up to 140 pounds
  • My Bent Over Barbell Row is up to 110 pounds- close to body weight!!
  • Curls are up to 25 pounds per arm- I’ve been stuck on 20′s for a LONG TIME so this is so exciting!!

And those are just to name a few.. I’m super happy. All these extra calories are doing me good! I’m currently eating between 2100-2400 depending on the day.

Well, that’s about it for today. Oh, and I have to announce the winner of the 45 dollar gift certificate!

The winner is: Lisa who said, “I love how you’re giving us incentive to learn while entering your giveaway! When I saw the list of Alan Aragon articles I naturally picked the one about alcohol (I can give up a lot of stuff, but I love Jameson). I thought for sure it would tell me that alcohol is the piss of satan and to give it all up immediately. Fortunately Aragon cited some studies that showed moderate alcohol consumption didn’t have a major impact on muscle and strength building. While over consumption is obviously not good, if you have some in moderation it won’t make or break you. Hooray! I’m glad I can continue to build muscle without giving up my whiskey.”

Congrats Lisa!! Please send me an email! :)

Have a great day!
