Ah, Orange Julius. Whenever I see that classic orange and green logo, my heart fills with happy and delicious memories of going to the mall and walking up to their station in the food court, my dad ordering the orange drinks for my sister and me. I love a good Orange Julius.
Well, today, friends, I accidentally recreated one in my blender. The best part about it, though, is that my version is packed with protein! According to the Orange Julius website, their original recipe is 130 calories (for a 16 oz. drink), with just 1 gram of protein. My version has 18 grams of protein and three ingredients: water, orange juice, and vanilla protein powder. It weighs in at 145 calories for a 20-oz glass (with a little extra to top it off after your first few sips). Here's the recipe
8 ounces cold water (you can throw in a couple of ice cubes to make it even colder)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used Forever Living brand)
4 ounces (1/2 cup) orange juice
Combine everything in a blender. Prepare yourself for creamy, orangey ecstasy. Enjoy.
