For as long as I can remember, I’ve gotten excited every time the mail comes. As a kid, I’d run down to the mailbox to see if I received a letter from a pen pal- or better yet- a card from my grandparents.
To this day, I still go right out to the mailbox when I hear the mail carrier’s truck. Of course, now the bills are for me and not my parents…
Something that really makes getting the mail fun as an adult are subscription services.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with them, subscription services are basically monthly deliveries filled with product samples (sometimes even full-sized versions). Most companies choose your assortment based on a profile that you’ll fill out when registering for the service.
These services are a great way to try new products, and they are like receiving a fun surprise each month! If you are not happy with the subscriptions for any reason, most companies will let you cancel at any time.
I’ve tried a whole bunch of them, and I’ve heard about many others, so I thought that I’d round them all up for you today.
(Please note: While some of these services might have international delivery, I featured services that ship mainly within the United States. Also, all prices shown below are for month-to-month subscriptions. Prices will vary if you choose other subscription options.)
I’ve been doing this one for a long time now, and it seems to be the most popular one out there these days. While the products are not exclusively non-toxic, sometimes a product by one of those brands will be included. In fact, my April box contained solely natural brands, such as Alima Pure and Jurlique. If you like the products, you have the opportunity to buy the full sizes directly from the Birchbox website. You can even use and earn points!
My Glam is very similar to Birchbox, but the products usually come in cute little pouches or makeup bags. I did this one a few times, and it was hit or miss for me- which is the risk with any of these services.
If you’re a nail polish guru, this is the subscription service for you! The colors that you receive in your box are based off of a beauty profile that you’ll complete at registration. As a member (or maven), you’ll have the opportunity to shop the whole Julep collection for 20% off.
Price: $19.99/month for $40 worth of products (includes shipping)
I’m really excited that Glossybox is finally available in the United States! With this service, members receive 5 trial-size products by international luxury brands. From what I’ve seen, the product sizes are very generous. You can also earn points to receive a free box.
If you’re into all-natural beauty products, you’ll enjoy Eco Emi. While it is similar in structure to other beauty subscription services, the products are exclusively non-toxic and contain brands like Pangea Organics and Aura Cacia. Aside from beauty products, members also receive healthy foods and teas to sample occasionally.
This is a service that allows moms to try sample-sized products for themselves and their babies (ages 0-12 months). Not all products are natural and organic but many of them are which is awesome! Unfortunately, it looks like there’s currently a waiting list for this service.
This one has me really intrigued. According to the company’s website, “you’ll get healthy food and drinks, workouts and apparel, skincare products, supplements, and more” delivered to your door each month. You can even preview the August box here.
Price: $18/month (including free shipping)
Do you subscribe to any of these services? Are you aware of any others? I’d love to find more mommy ones!
