Mini Vaca and Memorial Day Weekend

Posted Jun 01 2010 12:13pm

HELLLLLLLLLO, my has it been forever. Lets see, last Thursday was my last day of work before my first personal day (Friday) and the weekend and Memorial Day off. Basically, four days of  no work, fabulous. Thursday started out with non other than Sex and the City 2! Me, Lily, and Becky went out to dinner at Sawa, a japanese resturaunt. We dressed nice, but not fancy. I had accidently guzzled way too many sunchips so I felt bad about drinking and eating again, but I did it anyways. I am glad I did. I got Miso Soup, Shuami, and California roll, Plus half of one of Becky’s Green Tea Mochi’s for dessert. Oh..and we shared a bottle of wine, in which, I had 2.5 glasses of. Boy was I feeling it, I haven’t had more than one alcoholic drink in months (because I know how bad it is for fat loss). The movie was cute, as usual, and fashionable, as usual. I got home a bit after 1 AM, and it was a pretty good night!

Please excuse the lack of photos above, but it was dark in there and I didn’t want to use my flash and the first one was taken with Brendans iphone. Moving on, Friday rolls around and I wake up nice and early. I did 10 minutes of cardio, 1 hour of pilates, and then another 35 minutes on the elliptical.  For lunch we went out to The Brickwall in Asbury Park. I go the same thing I always get, the buffalo chicken salad. I ordered half sized for the amount of chicken, but full size for the amount of greens. This picture doesn’t do it justice, but again, it was dark inside..

Friday night we went bowling with Brendan’s uncle and two cousins (23 & 18). It was so much fun! I bowled two strikes but sucked the rest of the time. I also accidentally consumed many alcoholic beverages. I suck.  And my body made me pay for it, in the form of weight. Instead of reaching my goal weight for the week, I gained, but then lost it in the following two days. It could have been fluctuation, but either way, I don’t like getting on the scale and seeing a number that is higher than the days before.

Saturday, we went to NYC!!! First I made breakfast, which was a fried egg, a light multi grain english muffin, and sliced strawberrys. YUM. I had been craving a friend egg for so long! It’s hard because I don’t have time to make them on weekdays for breakfast, so I only have eggs and oats too on the weekends. Have you noticed?

In NY, we did many many things, in short, activities included: Taking the Staten Island Ferry and riding past the Statue of Liberty, etc. Walking over the Brooklyn Bridge. Getting stranded in the Financial District on the weekend while very hungry, Eating outside a wine bar restaurant and ordering over priced food, Shopping @ H&M, Chillin’ in Central Park, Subways etc.

Le Ferry View:

Financial District:

Lunch: Grilled Cheese with Bacon and Shared Fries with Brendan. Also bought these AWESOME smart fries but saved them for later! (these fries had so much in a serving, and for only 110 calories and 1.5 grams of fat for a whole bag, they are deff on my ‘to-buy’ list

The Brooklyn Bridge:

Also on the Brooklyn Bridge was this beautiful scene:

Dinner: Scallops and Spinach in a verrrrry garlicy sauce. Brendan got strip steak caesar salad.

Where we ate:

We left for NY at 10 AM, and didn’t get home until midnight. It was a long and incredibly fun day! I’m pretty sure we walked atleast 6 miles, so that is good also! My legs were killing me for days lol.

Sunday breakfast:

Two Fried Eggs and a kiwi with strawberry slices. Then I just watched Law and Order re runs all day. Though there was a small trip to Wegmans and to Target, where I bought a few things.

Monday for lunch we went to Zebu in Red Bank. I got the Turkey Milano, which is a sandwhich on 7 grain bread: Turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a pesto mayo on the bread (though it seems mostly just like pesto). Plus a small bag of Kettle Cooked chips.  Anyways, to save calories I always rip the piece of break that doesn’t have pesto on it off and throw it away (hello open face turkey sandwich). I probably saved 140 calories by just doing that. I photographed it whole though, so you can see!

Can you see the pesto?

My new dress!

I also bought a new dress and shirt and sandals from Urban Outfitters. I am wearing most of those things today lol.

And last but not least, Brendan and I shelled out 6 bucks at the asian market for a box of Green Tea Mochi’s. I’ve been craving it ever since I had one of Becky’s, haha. I consumed one while watching an NCIS marathom.

Anyways, back on weight loss track! Brendan and I have instituted a new lunch policy, which is to always try to have a salad. We’ll see how long we can stick to it! I’m going to spin class tonight, so wish me luck!

Question: Did you go anywhere or do anything special this Memorial Day?
