In this post i am going to tell you about the migraine and its possible remedies and management tips.
What is migraine? Migraine is a type of headache and differ from the normal headache because it recurs often.
What are its signs and symptoms? It usually cause very severe pain and it usually occurs on one side along with extreme sensitivity to light, vomiting and nausea.
What is special about this? In some persons it recurs several times a month or year . Studies have shown that 1 or 2 in 100 persons usually experience the migraine. Migraine affects are more seen in females when compared to males.
There are two types of migraines : 1. migraine with aura 2. migraine without aura (also called common migraine)
The symptoms of aura are:
1. person sees zigzag lines and light flashes in his vision 2. sensations (tingling)in his legs 3. aura signals the person that he/she is going to experience the migraine effect with in 15 to 25 minutes
Migraine in children
It is also seen in children and it occur usually in the adolescence. In the migraine usually occurs both sides of head . Some show only vomiting and nausea symptoms which this is going to be a challenge to the physician to diagnose because there wont be any pain like symptom in those children.
Here are some of the cause of migraine
1.Some foods/drinks which cause migraine like monosodium glutamate, alcohol, caffeine, chocolate and other foods(processed). 2.Stress is also a cause for migraine. 3. Some persons are extremely sensitive to sensory stimulus and those sensitive stimuli may sometimes lead to this problem. 4.There are instances where change in temperature causes the migraine 5. Some may also lead to migraine.Aromatherapy and essential oils offers a great deal of relief to the migraine sufferers .
For an alternative herbal remedy Lavender is a good choice.Drugs like NSAIDS – (Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) and also drugs like ergots alkaloids rizatriptan, sumatriptan (triptans) and some pain controlling drugs are normally used even good herbal treatment also showed better results.
Note: 1)Maintain a dairy regarding its occurring frequency (which is useful for the physician to diagnose you better) and it is better if you consult doctor as early as possible. 2) If you are suffering from migraine you should take plenty of fluids/water, nutritious food and more importantly be away from the activities related to stress.
