Mercedes Junior Jog 1K Report

Posted May 10 2011 7:21pm
The Mercedes 10K race also has 5K, Toddler Trot and the Junior Jog. I registered my daughter for the Junior Jog this year, just as last, I felt it was very well organized last year and was excited for Marina to run it again this year.

When we got to the race site we went to pick up my daughters bib and I am so happy to say it was not #1. Just like last year they give kids their own bib number. This is how kids races should be done. I commend this race for that.

Marina saw the face painting station right away so she got her face painted as I was getting myself ready to go to the start line. Here she is getting a pretty butterfly on her pretty face
And here is the finished product!

My 10K started at 8:00am and Marina's 1K was to start at 9:30am so she had some fun while waiting for mommy to finish her race and while waiting for her race to start. She met some friends while waiting: Marina was super excited to see a husky. We had a husky that passed away 2 years ago and huskies will always have a special place in our hearts.

I give the race organizers a lot of credit to have all these mascots to keep the children entertained
I think my daughters has been to Disney World too many times, she LOVES seeing all these characters and must go up to all of them for hugs
Marina was at the start line all ready to run
She is in her starting position
There was a great turnout for the Junior Jog
And they are off
This race has a really nice course for the Junior Jog. They run through the forest, along the lake and then they finish at the actual finish line of the 5K and the 10K. Here she comes
I love this picture of her and her shadow
Concentrating hard
Marina did great. After the race Marina said to me, "Mommy I really like this race. I got to run through the forest and right next to the ocean and I saw a Dashound as I was running." She is too cute!

I love this kids race. This is how a kids race should be done and I wished all other races would learn from this one.

What I loved is that kids actually have a bib number that isn't #1, the course if beautiful, they finish at the same finish line as the main races (the kids love that because they finish their race where their mom or dad finish theirs), the mascots are fun, the face painting is great, the kids can get the same food the other racers get and they gave out some random prizes for the kids which is a nice touch. There is no medal but it is a nice ribbon that isn't generic, it says for teh 1K Junior Jog.

Marina will definately run this race again next year!
