May 15, It's WE TRIED IT! Friday. This Week: Stretch Island Fruit Strips
Posted May 14 2010 6:13pm
This week my daughter tried Stretch Island Fruit Strips as her afternoon snack.
They are all natural, have 45 calories a strip and are made from fruit. No added sugar or artifical colors, etc.
The ingredients say:
Apple puree concentrate, Cherry puree concentrate, orange puree concentrate, natural black cherry flacor.
I like them because my daughter thinks they are candy and she is getting a 1/2 serving of fruit. She ate one every afternoon!!!
I know it would probably be better if she ate a real piece of fruit instead. But, she is a child who asks for apple slices and string cheese as a snack. So, a few fruit strips won't hurt her!!!
I also saw a similar product that was organic fruit. I might try those next week!!
BOTTOM LINE: A good alternative to fruit roll-ups or candy as a snack or in kid's lunches. But, I would still try and get the kiddos to eat real fruits and veggies!! We will be buying again.
(BTW- The cheapest place I found them was Wal-Mart this week.)
