Manic Marathon Monday (week1 Marathon Training)

SAY WHAT!? Yep! Your eyes don’t deceive…Monday’s are changing at HappyMotherRunner thanks to Marathon Training (actually a lot is changing at HMR… but hold your horses).

HMR Mondays are switching from weekly Proof to Manic Marathon Monday. Today is the day that it all begins! I am starting my training for my #1 bucket list item (Ted Vickey would be so proud),  which is to complete a full marathon. The marathon that has been selected, the notorious Marine Corps Marathon October 28, 2012.

So what can you expect? Well… EVERYTHING! Mondays will now be the day I talk about everything marathoning and marathon training; from the progress of my training to my gear that I love (and or hate). I’ll be talking about the lack of injury (keeping it positive peeps) as well as my pitfalls and accomplishments.

How am I beginning my marathon training?

What I woke up to see on facebook this morning. Time to start marathon training!

Today I start with some yoga to stretch out my hips and then will follow that with some strength training. Tomorrow I start my running portion!

Yoga from yesterday. I hope today is just as amazing!

Saturday I sat and outlined my whole marathon training plan. Put it in writing and will be posting it up on the door to my house real soon (today soon)! I have decided to try the Runners World Beginner Marathon training plan. I like the setup of how the miles increase. It just seems natural to me. Not only does the big book outline a marathon plan (as well as half marathon plans), but it also has all the advice you would ever need about running (it’s not called the big book for nothing).
