Happy Monday! Did you all have a good weekend?
Mine was fabulous! Austin and I saw The Green Hornet on Friday night:

I hadn’t heard great things about the movie, so I went into it with pretty low expectations, but I wound up enjoying it more than I expected to. It was funny and entertaining–
just a wee bit too long. Austin fell asleep at one point, and he didn’t really miss anything! LOL

Saturday, we did something
really unexpected.
We went to our first
(and probably only) Monster Truck Rally!
A surprising fact about Austin: He’s always wanted to go to a Monster Truck Rally! He’s mentioned it before when we saw commercials for them on TV, but I always thought he was joking.
Apparently, he
wasn’t joking.
So, we took a drive down to Anaheim, and enjoyed a little
Monster Jam action!
It was LOUD and SMELLY (burning fuel + rubber = gross), but a pretty fun experience! I loved the funny names– Monster Mutt, Grave Digger, Batman– and we were on the edge of our seats during the crazy jumps! A few of the trucks didn’t make it…
Eek. Luckily, all the drivers were A-OK!
My camera also took
the strangest photo ever:
Doesn’t it look like I took this photo in front of a green screen? My camera tends to blur the background– to keep the subject in focus– but I guess we were
so far away from the course, it got REALLY blurry. Weird.

Sunday, I attended
my very first raw food course! Cru , in Silverlake, offers courses in raw food and cleansing, and yesterday’s class sounded really interested– it introduced us to
techniques to maximize nutrient absorption and cleansing, such as food combining, cultured and pro-biotic foods, and a brief introduction to
Body Ecology and
Eating for Your Blood Type . I’m really interested in learning more about
Body Ecology now! (I’m ordering
the book as we speak!)
I’m also REALLY excited about the recipes they shared with us! Remember the
Quinoa Risotto that I was raving about last week? They shared their restaurant’s recipe in the handout!
Woo-hoo!! They also taught us how to make
homemade sauerkraut and cultured veggies, a
raw mint soup, and their
Body Ecology Bowl, featuring sauteed kabocha squash, spinach and quinoa.
The tasting-samples they shared with us were to die for!
And our day only got
better from there–
we spent the rest of our day in Malibu
, hiking over rocks on the most beautiful beach!
Hiking over rocks with my camera was quite a challenge! But totally worth it to take these pictures.
Talk about the perfect way to end the weekend!
Hope you all had a good weekend, too!

Reader Feedback: What was the best thing you did this weekend? Did anyone watch the Golden Globes? Any favorite dresses?
My favorite was
Olivia Wilde’s:

And
Eva Longoria’s:
