Home Healthy eats from the week Lunch date at Newk’s Cafe & healthy eats from the week

7 comments Jul 06/12 Healthy eats from the week, Restaurants

Yesterday afternoon, Lindsay and I met up at Newk’s Cafe for lunch.  When I go there, I usually order the black bean soup, but they didn’t have it on Thursday (probably because most people don’t want hot soup when it is nearly 100 degrees outside).

Since I am pretty adaptable, I ordered the soup and salad combo instead (with vegetable soup and salmon salad).

(This was the largest “half bowl” of soup I’ve ever seen.)

Lindsay is pregnant too, so it was fun to talk about babies and trade our pregnancy brain stories.

Once lunch was over, we were both completely stuffed… but of course, Lindsay just had to mention something about doughnuts, and I spent the rest of the day with a massive Krispy Kreme craving.

Thanks, Lindsay! ;)

Moving on from doughnuts to healthy foods…

I thought that I’d try something new today called my “healthy eats from the week” in which I’ll basically recap just a few of the yummy nutritious meals I’ve eaten throughout the past 7 days.

Hope you enjoy!

Dr. Praeger’s burger and a salad

Salmon salad

Open-faced avocado & tomato sandwich on rye with a side salad

Salad with corn salsa

Protein pancake with fruit

Shrimp & avocado salad

Grass Skirt smoothie

Cookie Dough Larabar

Balsamic glazed chicken with spinach & couscous (recipe coming next week)

What are some of the healthy things you ate this week?  Links and recipes are welcome!

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?  I’m not sure what the weekend holds for us yet, but Jen and her adorable baby Wyatt are coming over this morning to meet Lucy.  Can’t wait!

Have a great weekend!

  1. You are making me hungry and that protein pancake – YUM! I try and get my 8 to 12 servings a fruit a day plus my protein; trying to lose some weight right now. My other half smoked a turkey – delicious. I am going to test out my new lens for my camera this weekend, so excited to test it out:) Enjoy Wyatt – he is a cutie pie for sure! Have a Wonderful Weekend:)

  2. It looks like you had some great healthy food. In my book, you’ve earned a doughnut. Maybe if you share one it will satisfy your craving without making you feel guilty.

I had a great spinach salad this week. And snacked on a great yellow bell pepper (they’re kind of my new favorite snack).

Thanks for sharing. Stopping by from SITS. Have a great weekend.

  3. yummmm those salads look amazing! and now I’m seriously wanting some, probably because I ate absolutely NOTHING healthy this week! LOL

  4. Love all of your healthy eats.. especially the salads. Everything looks so delicious. Thanks for sharing <3
