I never thought I would be saying this, but I was totally craving a long ride this morning.
Back when I was running a lot, I would crave a long run every weekend, but lately, I have been really into riding.
Since I do not have time for long rides during the week (usually), today was the perfect time to get one in and I definitely took advantage of it.
Saturday Long Ride
Cycling: 179 minutes
Call me crazy (or stupid), but I did a 179 minute ride on my indoor trainer.
I’ve done 17 miles on a treadmill before (it was terrible, but I did it), so a long, indoor cardio session is nothing new to me.
Actually, the time flew by now that I look back on it. I did a few things to help the time pass by, which I think really helped.
1. Changing my pace and resistance.
Instead of just riding at a steady pace the entire time, I did it like this:
2. Lord of the Rings
Want to know the reason why my ride was 179 minutes?
That is how long Lord of the Rings is
3. Break The Ride Into Smaller Segments
When I am doing any long workout, I always break it down into smaller pieces to make it seem less daunting.
Instead of thinking “Oh shit I still have another two hours to go”, I just try to think about getting through the next segment, which is a measly 15 minutes at a steady pace.
Now remains the ultimate question for the day…
Do I clean my apartment or take a nap and save it for another day?
Actually, I kind of want to go for a run
