If I haven't already told you, Casey and I gave our official two-months notice to our landlord at the end of January. We are looking to move out of our first apartment together, and find some where slightly closer to either his work or school. We are also hoping to significantly lower our rent because I will be making nearly zero income while I'm in school for a year. We will be living off of our savings, Casey's income and lovely OSAP.
Before we hit the road to explore new neighbourhoods, I chewed on a few of these babies--dried figs!
They were super yummy and tasted just like a Fig Newton cookie/bar/whatchamacallit. I'm hooked!
At first, we were a bit disappointed in the neighbourhoods we were exploring. We found a few places that looked good online, but turned out to be in deplorable locations. Just as we started heading back home and were about to throw in the towel, we stumbled upon a gorgeous neighbourhood that would be absolutely perfect! It's really close to Casey's work, but not so close to school. Darn. We went home and checked out rent rates in that neighbourhood and hello reasonable!! The rates were so reasonable that it would be cheaper in the end to live there with Casey being a short five-minute bike ride from work and me having to pay a bit extra for parking at the school than it would be to live closer to the school and using my complementary bus pass instead of paying for parking. Rediculous! Plus, the neighbourhood was much, much nicer!
Fingers crossed something opens up for us! We're going to be booking tours over the next few days to check out the places next week. Yay!
When we got home, I was a little hungry for lunch. I heated up the last piece of yesterday's stuffed pork loin and paired it with some organic unsweetened applesauce.
This was a perfect lunch to end a great morning! I have to head off to the After School Program, then run around to two different barns to ride before I call it a night. It's going to be a busy one, so don't expect an early dinner post (if any)!
