Lets get drunk and paint

Posted Aug 04 2012 11:50am

In Boston, there are Art Bars popping up everywhere. Paint Night at certain places too. I really like the idea of alcohol and painting combined with socializing. I’ve looked into these places and while reasonably priced for what is expected (supplies like canvas, smocks, paint, brushes) and then alcohol. $40-$75 doesn’t seem that far fetched. But…. why spend that much money when I literally have everything in my house.

So my roommate and I came up with Ladies Paint and Wine night, and it was wonderful! I had plenty of extra canvas, brushes, paint etc. So the wine (and then eventually rum) was flowing and so was the creativity. I love living with artists and often times its so easy to be inspired ALL the time. I currently live with musicians AND artists, my neighbors are musicians and artists. I’m surrounded. Right now as I’m typing, I’m listening to my roommate play her violin, beautifully I might add.

This was my final piece.  I have no idea what it is, I just let it come out. I never really do abstract paintings, but it was kind of cathartic.

Here is some individual work:

We also worked on a collaborative piece that over 7 of us contributed.

This was such a fun idea and I loved feeding off of the energy in the room. I’ll definitely do this again and if you don’t already have supplies, it’s really cheap to start. A lot cheaper than $75.
