Let yo’ hair down

Posted Nov 08 2010 5:18am
Good morning blogloves!!

How were your WEEKENDS? I’m sorry I was MIA. My reader is screaming at me but I simply had no time to blog Fri-Sun.

This weekend I spent time with Arc and some of our best friends.

We partied on Friday, went to a wine & cheese, dinner, and formal ball on Saturday, and ended with a brunch on Sunday.

I didn’t work out once.

I definitely enjoyed my share of wine. And champagne. And cocktails.

It was a fantastic time <3

When we weren’t drinking and dancing, I was munching on disco sushi ;)

And declaring my newfound love for cereal. Specifically, totally artificial blueberry-muffin-flavored mini wheats. Call the doctor, these are fantastic with warm almond milk. To be fair, the first ingredient is whole-grain wheat. That makes these okay.. right? I’m on a mission to recreate these in a healthier way. They were so yummy <3

I was similarly intrigued by the variety of drinks consumed over the course of two days:

Ooh, yum, what was -that-? Look out body, here come three. I like to think that my poor system looked on at my partying antics, shook her head and laughed:“Alright, go ahead just this once. I’ll turn a blind eye but you’d better make up for this tomorrow. Come to think of it, and the next day, too.”

One of my best friends really hurt her ankle, so we ended up spending a lot of time sitting. Did that stop us from dancing?

No way.

Arguably the best part of the night was seeing this handsome fella’ rock a suit and tie.

And getting to kiss him whenever I wanted ;) {Sweet Home Alabama reference anybody?}

Detox Plan So Friday and Saturday were a bit of a foodie fail, complete with alcohol, plenty of processed food and no exercise to speak of (minus mad dance parties.) Sometimes you just have to let your hair down <3

…But now it’s time to tame those party tresses by undoing some of the damage with a super healthy week. My regular diet on my best days consists mostly of fruit, veggies and whole grains – pretty much the equivalent of a detox diet. I don’t ever crash diet after an indulgent weekend; instead I enjoy myself, and then welcome the return to normalcy.

Normalcy this week will consist of (and here’s my grocery list!)

  • Green Monsters Galore
  • Yogurt messes with as much organic fruit as I can get my hands on.
  • Baked salmon with Meyer lemons*
  • Asparagus pasta*
  • Roasted Cauliflower
  • Salad beasts
  • Roasted Veggies with tempeh

* recipes to follow!

I’m going to try and squeeze in a hot yoga session or two in addition to my regular workouts to sweat out those toxins. Yoga for the win!

  • Question: What is the most indulgent thing you had this weekend?
  • Question 2: When you go out for a weekend night on the town, what do you do to detox? I’m a big fan of a huge bowl of fruity oats first thing the next morning.

Back soon with a recipe for the asparagus pasta I’ve got up there. I hope your Mondays are off to a good start – especially now that we’ve got that extra hour!
