Hello and Happy Saturday! Slept til 9AM this morning. Of course, we didn’t get home and in bed til almost 1AM again. Two super late nights in a row for me. I am getting ready to head out on a couple of errands and then I am coming home for the day.
Olympus Has Fallen
Where were we last night? Seeing the movie Olympus Has Fallen . The premise of the show is:
Disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack; using his inside knowledge, Banning works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers.
Reading the premise now I think: (1) He wasn’t disgraced, he had just been dealt an impossible situation and did what he was trained to do and (2) He wasn’t trapped in the White House as much as he had RUN in trying to help. Gerald Butler made a great Secret Service agent and was very likable in the role.
As much as I love action/adventure movies and movie violence doesn’t disturb me (because it is all fake and done on a movie set), this movie bothered me. The violence seemed too real and I didn’t like seeing The White House (and as a result, our country) being attacked. In the end, I was glad I went (the movie was my choice) as it was a great date night with hubby. I will say that if violence bothers you on a big screen, don’t go see this movie.
Let’s Talk BlackBerry!
Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program and have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.
I spent about an hour yesterday playing with my new gadget, the BlackBerry Z10 thanks to Verizon Wireless. As I mentioned yesterday , I was chosen to be a Verizon Wireless Ambassador. So they sent me this phone and I get to play with it and share my thoughts with you. I managed to figure out how to change the background screen, so my phone looks like:
First thoughts were that the phone was really pretty, but let’s admit I like shiny new devices. I was super surprised at how easy it was to type on the phone and discovered almost immediately that I liked their keyboard over my iPhone.
My SIM card won’t be activated until Monday, but I connected the phone to our wireless and managed to set quite a few things up in the hour that I had. One thing I did? Downloaded Angry Birds Star Wars and played a couple of levels.
I was very sad to find out that there isn’t an Instagram app for the Blackberry. I went to the Instagram site and found this in the FAQs:
When are you going to make the app for Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, iPad, etc?
We are currently working on making the iPhone and Android experiences as solid as possible. Only then will we consider other platforms, but currently we have nothing to announce.
So sadly, no Instagram love for the Blackberry. And such a shame because the camera is really nice. Talking about the camera made me go look up the specs on it: “8MP rear–facing AF camera w/LED Flash, 5x digital zoom; 2MP front–facing camera, 3x digital zoom.”
First impressions are that it is a good, solid phone. It far surpasses the last Blackberry Storm that I had. The operating system makes me think of a cross between Android and Windows. Easy to use and fairly intuitive.
What cell phone do you use? If you could try any cell phone for a month, what would it be? What style of movies do you prefer?
