Lazy Day

This morning (last night?) dragged on and on to say the least. A couple of days ago I came down with some sort of sore-throat virus and no matter how much airborne I chug or cold-eeze lozenges I suck, I can't seem to beat it! Pretty much this resulted in me getting only about 4 fragmented hours of shut-eye last night.... ahhh well, at least I used my time productively and caught up on the full season of Real World: Las Vegas (the show is like crack I swear..). Finally around 8 or so I decided to settle my grumbling tummy and whip up some banana-oats! (sorry no picture!.. I was lazy and sleep deprived). I generally am pretty standard as far as oat bowls go though, in the mix:

1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
1/2 cup water
1 smooshed up banana
1/4 tsp almond extract <-- I swear this is the best part!
1 blob of Jif Natural Peanut Butter (who cares to measure?)
+ a sprinkling of coconut flakes!

Finally out of my bed and satiated, yet not really wanting to worsen my virus with any sort of intense exercise, I decided to do a little ab work for the first time in forever. I'm going to Florida in about a week anyways (hello sunshine, drinks, and bikini's :]!), so it couldn't hurt to pretend I've actually been working on my abs... - I settled on a short 12-minute routine that I actually stole from Bobbi !

It's pretty simple - you just do these 6 exercises each for 1 minute .. x2!
It seems pretty easy but I promise by the end you'll feel it - at least a little!

Quick, easy, and effective! Just how I like it!

After my short "workout" I threw on some barely presentable clothes (yes, I did my workout in my pajamas) and headed to doctor to get what I thought was going to be a quick strep test. Note to self: doctors offices never fail to suck up time like a black hole. I ended up getting stuck there for two hours, just to discover that I had a pretty-darn bad-looking throat.. but that since it wasn't strep, they couldn't give me antibiotics for it *sigh* I guess I'll just have to eat more lozenges (good thing they taste like candy...).

By the time I got home it was already lunch time! I threw together something easy and fresh: a sandwich thin with turkey, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and dijon mustard. Alongside some fruit and baby carrots.


The rest of the day I sort of spend lazing around, hoping to get better. I don't want to be sick when I go to Florida :(. I also ended up taking a short trip to the mall because my friend needed to get some shorts - and as sad as I was to get up my from my mindless MTV watching - I was glad that I had something productive to do.

Tonight is probably going to be equally lazy. I'm waiting for my parents to get home from work and we're all going to cook up our favorite quick meal, breakfast for dinner! Hopefully followed up by a delicious slice of cake. It was my Dad's birthday yesterday and we didn't really have time to get a cake so my mom is going to surprise him with his favorite (carrot cake!) tonight. shhhh. Well I'm off to go start prepping things to make it easier on the 'rents when they get home!
