Good morning! Boy it’s nice to have internet again here at the house. After only a few hours of sleep I was not looking forward to trekking up to Starbucks to hijack their free Wifi!
I had a wonderful time celebrating the end of my buddy Emmy’s singlehood with a day that would make ladies of leisure proud. We started off by driving out to Emmy’s dad and step mom’s shore house, where we enjoyed mimosas
and some relaxing time in the sunshine.
We took a break midday for a delicious lunch courtesy of Emmy’s step mom, Eileen. (Thanks Eileen!)
Move over Newburyport lobster rolls – jumbo lump crab cake sandwich is in town and it is amazing!
As a native Marylander, I’ve eaten many crab cakes in my day but this one was particularly wonderful. Tons of fresh, tender crab meat held together by a light mayo mix and little (if any) bread crumbs. Mmmm mmmm!
The side salad was also tops.
Late afternoon we headed back to D.C. to get ready for dinner and drinks.
And in my excitement to dress like Sparkle Barbie
I left my camera at home, whoops! Well perhaps it’s better because the Bride to Be was wearing quite the get up.
We dined at Dino’s Enoteca in Cleveland Park, D.C. and enjoyed wonderful service and delicious food. I had the $10, 10 ounce beef burger made with local, well raised meat. I was so hungry by the time we dined I ate all 10 ounces. Holy meat overload! Fortunately, it was quite tasty and came with a side of greens.
With the help of some strong Italian coffee, I was able to stay out until the celebration ended at 12:30 am. I’m a bit tired this morning but it was totally worth it.
Mom’s Ready To Run Workout
Staycation means that Workout Wednesday is posted on Thursday, mmm-kay?
As you probably know by now, I love running. This love began during childhood when I would see my mom return from her daily runs with a sweaty smile. Seventeen years ago, Mom had to stop running because of plantar fasciitis and took up walking and biking instead.
Recently, she decided to start running again and devised an awesome treadmill workout to help kick her legs into gear without stressing her feet or knees. This workout is most definitely FHF approved and is perfect for power walkers who want to take things up a notch.
