A few of our friends arrived at the campsite in style.
Yes, they showed up at our trashy little campground in a limo. I don’t even know…..
The rain didn’t dampen our spirits too much – we had plenty of adult beverages to keep us warm and happy. The watermelon jello shots were a hit. We chartered a bus to take us from the campsite to the concert site. It was warm, dry, and had a bathroom. Sweet.
Bus ride to Alpine Valley
At Alpine Valley, we did a little more tailgating before heading into the concert. The skies cleared up just in time.
Very happy with my decision to wear my rain boots
After the concert, we took the bus back to our campsite. Ryan and I didn’t even want to deal with setting up our tent and getting everything all wet so we slept in the car, haha. We got up super early Sunday morning anyway and headed back to Chicago. Despite the rain, we still had a great time.
Other weekend highlights included:
- Quality time with Maddux. Some walks, trips to the dog park, and naps on the couch.
- Dinner from Native Foods Cafe , a casual vegan restaurant chain that just opened two locations here in Chicago. I just took it to go, but next time I’m totally eating there for the free refills of the lavender lemonade (it’s so good).

Chimichurri Burger and Garlic Fries
- Cooler weather. The past couple of days have been sweatshirt weather. I finally got to bust out my new Lululemon Stride Jacket and haven’t taken it off since. I wore white pants on Labor Day and will continue wearing white throughout the winter. Whoever said you can’t wear white after Labor Day was so epically wrong. Ok, so maybe you don’t want to wear thin, summer whites, but winter whites are fabulous (soft, cozy, white sweaters are my favorite).

- Family time. Yesterday, I had brunch in the burbs with Ryan’s family and then dinner in the city with my family. My mom is in town for the next few days to help out my sis with some babysitting, so I get to hangout with her this week!
And now, it’s back to the grind. Short week, people!!
