Koalas and Kangas and Tigers…for real!

Posted Dec 16 2011 5:56am

G’day, mates!

I can’t wait to share photos with you of the second part of our trip to DreamWorld, the Wild Animal Experience.

First, we went over to Outback Adventure, in which we saw emus, wombats, dingoes, bilbies, and best of all, kangaroos! They were just lying around sunning, and you are welcome to go and pet them. Oh my Gosh, so unbelievably cute.

"Hey Joe! You seein' this broad?"

"...nomnomnom... What broad, Fred?"

"Stop cat-callin, boys. I'm just getting my sun on."

I think I can I think I can...

This tree is so snuggly.

Then, we went on to cuddle a koala. I haven’t scanned in the insanely expensive photo opp yet, but it was worth every cent to snuggle a year-old koala named Frank. He was a bit smaller than these guys.

After the koalas, we went to see the Tigers at Tiger Island. Tiger Island is a beautifully designed space for the tigers to run, play, etc. Tiger Island also raises money for Tiger Conservation, and has raised more than any other zoo or Tiger Experience for that Cause. One of the coolest parts is the Lair, which is a covered space with a plexi-glass ceiling that the Tigers can run around on. I was lucky enough to be there right when the big kitty decided to explore, which was amazing!

Tiger Connection.

Tiger's Eye. Literally.

Then, we went to watch the Tiger Show, in which the tigers are able to show their natural abilities in response to incentives like milk and meat (they are not prodded or convinced to do anything they don’t want to do.)

I WANT MILK!!!!

It was amazing to see the Tigers jump, leap and play!

After seeing all the animals, it was time to head to an entirely different experience, but more on that later!

Have a great evening, everyone.
