Kale chips is a craze that has been spreading like wildfire the past few years. They’re a simple, affordable, and delicious fun snack much in honor of a little CWYMO face time.
Kale is an extremely nutritious green full of antioxidants and nutrients like vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, and calcium. It’s only downfall as a vegetable is that it can be slightly bitter in taste. Fortunately for us, that bitterness goes away when you make crispy, crunchy (yes they really ARE crunchy!) kale chips!
Very easy to make, start by picking up a fresh head of kale. I went to my local farmer’s market to get mine.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and pull bite size pieces off each kale steam.
Wash and rinse kale thoroughly. Be certain to dry leaves thoroughly before cooking. I used paper towels to blot off excess water.
Lightly toss kale in small amount of oil (apply sparingly, too much will make kale soggy) and seasonings. I simply used kosher salt, but the sky is the limit here. Go crazy.
When seasoned, spread across sheet pan, being certain not to layer leaves.
Bake for 15-20 minutes. You know they’re done when they slide easily back and forth on the pan.
Okay, I know half of you are simply thinking that I am about 2 years to late in this post (you’re right) and the other half thinks I am crazy. If you haven’t tried them before, give them a try! I think you’ll be surprised just how good they are!
Have a great weekend and go get to making your kale chips!
