Juice Plus+ A Better Supplement Than Synthetic Vitamins

The stories about the lack of effectiveness of Vitamins on preventing sickness and disease are coming out in greater numbers than ever. It is another message that must be spread to the masses so that more people will throw out their 'synthetic' vitamins in favor of a healthier supplement. The supplement recommended by The Health & Wellness Institute is made using the whole foods - namely, fruits and vegetables. It's called Juice Plus+® . Here's a story about the ineffectiveness of Vitamins --
The Women's Health Initiative (WHI) is a government-sponsored study of more than 160,000 women that produced frightening results about the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy. That was in 2002. Since then the reports have been revised and restated with more clarity and the risk is not as great as they initially thought. Data continues to be mined from this research, the most recent relating the the link between vitamins and prevention of heart disease and cancer.
The results conclusively show that there is no link between vitamin intake and prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer, or mortality. The findings state that post menopausal women who take vitamins don't decrease their risk of these diseases but they don't have an increased risk either. The study, reported in this month's issue of Archives of internal Medicine, noted that women who take vitamins to protect against cancer and heart disease and ultimately death would be better served if they would buy more fruits and vegetables and exercise. Studies on men have been neutral but also support the idea that vitamins are of little value when it comes to prevention of these diseases.
To complicate matters for the consumer, since the deregulation of the supplement market in the 1990s, the FDA has little jurisdiction and can do little to prevent the industry from making false claims about the benefits of vitamins on health. So the public is not protected from an industry that spends millions telling us of the advantages of vitamins to prevent various illnesses, even if patently false.
The study's primary investigator, Dr. Marian Neuhouser, said that while there seemed to be no particular positive or negative for any cancer or cardiovascular event, there did seem to be an increase in myocardial infarction (heart attack) for women who took stress vitamins-high doses of Vitamin B, C,zinc and selenium-but there were so few cases that it was hard to draw a firm conclusion from this point. While she doesn't want to belabor the point, she was quick to note that a healthy diet would serve the public more than vitamins ever could. Read more...
