not a sunny day but the mountains were pretty

Welcome back !

I am finally home from a great weekend with one of my best friends. I went to visit my friend Valerie who is amazing in every way possible. We are pretty much total opposite’s when it comes to lifestyle though. She sleeps in really late (I don’t), she is usually a little late (I’m never), she fly’s by the seat of her pants and can go with the flow ( I need schedules) so lets just say visiting her is the ultimate relaxation because I learn how to roll with the punches.

Friday on the drive I had a cup of warm coffee to keep me awake and once I got to JMU I hung out with Val for a while and caught up on the past month of our lives.

We proceeded to go shopping for a bit and then go to dinner at an awesome greek tavern called Daves  and let me tell you they had one of the best soulvaki gyro I have EVER had.

Dave’s has about 3 floors and then we get to the ROOF TOP SEATING! It was such a beautiful night  outside, the atmosphere was great and best of all they had happy hour until 9:00 p.m. ! I started my night off with a vodka soda and splash of cranberry and grapefruit juice ( very tasty must try). I then had a 24 oz. Blue moon with dinner for only (5.25) you can not beat that.

I split dinner with Val because we can never decide on just one thing. We had the slouvaki gyro which came with seasoned fries and then we order the small medditeranean pizza ( white pizza basically). It was all so good and I had an amazing time enjoying myself outside in the fresh air, sipping a great beer, enjoying great girls.

Saturday was JMU FOOOTBALLL

JMU vs VMI = JMU kicked BUTT

Saturday I went for a great run in the morning while everyone else was sleeping. We then had an awesome brunch at their dining facilities which were top notch. I highly recommend all colleges developing dining services like JMU. I did not take a picture because I was lame and forgot my camera. I had a HUGE egg white omelette with tons of veggies, a bite of a biscuit, some fruit, and of course soft serve ice cream haha.

We then headed to the game where we drank gross natural light beer because we are stylish like that. Tailgating was great and everyone was so pumped unfortunately thirty minutes into the game they stopped letting people in because it was overcrowded (LAME). Around 8 we ended up heading out and grabbing dinner (not photo again) I am so sorry. I order black bean quesidillas with lettuce, tom, jalapeno, cheese, and salsa.

After dinner we were going to walk to our friends house (up several hills) to get ready for the nightly adventures but decided it would be a good idea to hitch a ride in the back of a truck with a bunch of screaming boys. It was not a smart decision but we did get to our location faster and we had fun. When your in college I feel its ok to make stupid decision sometimes you just have to look back and be happy you made it out ok.

Needless to say tailgating started at 3:30 and we all thought we had our big girl pants but….. we crashed by 12:00 p.m. and that was after drinking a cup of coffee around 10:30. ( Oh well)

On to sunday, I got up around 8:30 but did not eat breakfast until 10:30 due to some minor backups. I was starving and breakfast was delicious. James Madison University has a little place called Mr. J’s bagels where all students seem to eat on saturday and sunday mornings. The bagels are yummy as I found out and the price is perfect. 1.50 for an egg and cheese bagel you can’t beat it. They have an array of bagels including berry, Asiago cheese, wheat, egg, everything, you know the basics. I usually don’t find anything special about bagels but I had to check this place out. I got an everything bagel with egg and cheese and managed to mangle half of the cheese and the yellow part of the egg out of the bagel ( cheese really hurts my stomach and the yolk and cheese can increase cholesterol bad moves). I ended up eating 1/2 of the bagel and saved the rest for later.

An hour into my drive I stopped at a sheetz and got a medium coffee. 1/2 hazelnut and 1/2 Columbian roast with a splash of sugar free caramel pecan latte (from machine). The coffee was phenomenal and only 1.40 (I’m trying to save money). I knew I would be passing by whole foods on my way home so I stopped in for a long 2 hours of wandering around and purchased some wonderful salad bar items. P1010536

Dinner was early because I was starving and my belly needed something. I had an array of food. It included

  • whole foods salad bar ( salad, bean salad, beets, goat cheese, yumminess)
  • vodka sauce and whole wheat pasta
  • little bit of leftover bagel

I just finished watching Sybil and I will probably be asleep tonight before I know it. This weekend def. wore me out. I hope everyone has a great night.
