This morning I woke up, put on my jingle bell adorned sneakers and santa hat, and headed toward the Q train sleigh to the Jingle Bell Jog. When I put my bells on my shoes last night I didn’t consider that it would mean I would jingle all the way to the race. I attracted quite a bit of attention!
Immediately I saw Ashley and Bo in the corrals and joined them. However, they quickly took off as I jogged along to Christmas music. I meant for this to be a fun run. The first mile I went at a good pace, then the next two were kind of torturous, my legs were like lead. My santa hat wouldn’t stay on, so I alternated fixing it and having my arm cramp from holding it. But mainly my legs were the problem. I guess I should actually run between races. Once I hit mile 3, I got a sudden burst of energy, and finished strong. Despite not being speedy, it was fun to enjoy all the elf, santa and reindeer costumes as we jingled along.
At the end, they served red and green bagels for extra festivity!
Here I am looking not so cute on the subway tracks post-race:
I’m off for a quick weekend escape that I planned for the boy’s birthday. It’s a surprise, so you’ll have to wait to find out where we went!
