Sigh, another non-running post. I did have an entertaining day at the Wal Mart portrait studio however.
In mid-November we're taking Marcus down to Palm Springs with my parents for a bit of relaxation and, of course, shopping. Oh yeah, and hopefully a bit of sun. Anyhow, although kids under 15 don't need a passport for land travel, they do need one for air travel. So, I bundled him all up and headed down to Wal Mart this morning.
I checked the portrait studio hours online last night and was excited to see they opened early. Well, in some far away galaxy they open early - I guess mixed up the times when I checked because the studio clearly wasn't open at 8:00 am when I arrived this morning. So, I toodled round Wally World for awhile, found all kinds of things I didn't know I needed and headed home.
My second attempt at the photo was a bit later this morning at 11:30. Luckily the studio was open. Un-luckily, even babies have to be photographed sitting up. Hmm, 6 week old babies don't sit up very well on their own! Luckily I brought a big fleece sweatshirt for him to wear that I could slide my hands up underneath to hold him up. The sweatshirt itself was a bit of a struggle - they tell you to bring your baby in a dark shirt. Well, not many baby clothes come in black or dark colors but I found the dark blue fleece to bring along.
We had to take a couple of shots before we got one that would pass. The first one his head was tilted too far to the side. In the second one my hands were showing and in another he had a weird look on his face. The last one finally was acceptable though and here it is:
I laugh every time I look at it because he looks so serious...and square. Man, babies have square faces! I also think it's funny because passport photos never make anyone look good, Marcus included! I never thought it was possible that he could look like such a little punk!
Oh well, we got our shot now it's off to the Canadian Government and hopefully our little guy will have his very own passport soon.
