Yesterday I woke up to a hot and sunny day. As a result, a cool, refreshing breakfast was in order. A bowl of Oikos 0% greek yogurt topped with strawberries, pineapple, blackberries, grapes, and honey puffed wheat cereal. Of course, followed by my morning pick-me-up of french vanilla coffee with a splash of soy milk. Yes, I'll admit it, since starting college I've become a "morning coffee drinker" (the horror!) - but I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing. I love the taste of coffee and it gives me that little push I need in the morning to get my day going.
Later in the morning I was eager to test out my new running shoes! If you can believe it I'd been running on the same old ones for two years. Given the amount I like to run, I don't even know how my sneakers managed to last that long?! I ended up getting the same shoes as I had before, the Nike Pegasus, in the latest model. Not going to lie, it was a little sad to say goodbye to my old kicks. But on the bright side, the latest model is pretty snazzy looking don't you agree? Loving the bright blue.
I don't have a Garmin or anything but I ran a loop that I used to do all the time for cross country. I ended up completing 4.8 miles (checked on mapmyrun.com) in 40 minutes. I really don't know how fast that is....nor do I really care haha. I kind of just like to stick in my headphones and GO. Some days I run faster, others I run slower. It's whatever my legs are feeling. I was also too focused on the farmer's market I happened to stumble upon at the end of my run to even notice my timing. It was full of fresh produce, baked breads, iced pastries, and even fresh ice cream! In blogger fashion, I sketchily snapped some photos with my phone. Sadly I didn't have any money on me so I couldn't buy anything, but I was able to score a few free samples! My favorite was the apple-cranberry-orange bread. Sounds weird, tastes delicious. I'm definitely stashing some money in my shoe or spots bra next time. (Don't pretend like we all don't do it.)
If you haven't noticed, it doesn't take much to make me happy. Good weather? New shoes? A farmer's market? I'm yours. To me it's the little things in life that make a huge difference. Every day I try to find and focus on the good, fun, things that happen - as opposed to the mishaps and imperfections. Yes I know it's impossible to be positive 100% of the time, but I also don't find it productive to dwell on the things that are weighing me down. Life is short, and so we should savor and enjoy every moment! I think that so many people become wrapped up in the negative aspects of their lives, that they don't notice how many cool things this world has to offer: like farmer's markets! ... and warm cups of tea.
