It’s Oscars Day! Let’s Judge on Talent, Not Appearance

I had no firm plans to write a post here at Beautiful You today, but having already heard all the Academy Awards ‘buzz’ on the radio and morning television I couldn’t get just one thing out of my mind. Sure, there was talk of who is going to win, the most amazing movies of the year and stand out performances, but every story I heard was dominated by one theme….
What were people going to wear?
Who would be the best dressed?
Who would (as one announcer said) ‘screw it up’ and ‘look like a fright?’
Who (as another announcer said) need to ‘sack their stylist’ and ‘wish they had never gotten out of bed?’
And who of course would make the worst dressed lists?
Now don’t get me wrong here. I will openly admit that I love a beautiful frock and getting dressed up myself. I also love awards shows and the glamour of such evenings. What I don’t love though is when what people (women in particular) are lampooned, judged, criticised and… Read the rest
