Is Counting Calories the Best Way to Lose Weight?

In order to lose weight, you’re going to have to stick with a certain amount of calories each day. Basically you’re going to have to become a calorie counter because if you eat more than a certain amount, then you’re not going to lose weight. This is the only way to make sure that you will lose weight.

Although, counting categories may seem to some people like it is an extreme measure and they may be correct, but if you want to find out how much you’re eating, then there is no better way. You may think that you’re eating a very healthy and low calorie meal, but you may be surprised with the amount of calories that you’re actually eating. That’s why it’s so important to take note of everything you eat on a daily basis especially in the beginning of a diet. Typically this is important in the first 3 to 4 weeks until you get used to what is in the range of calories that you should be eating.

A calorie counter system will give you the direction and the guidance that you need to see the results that you’re looking for in terms of weight. For example, if you believe that your caloric intake should be 1500 calories per day, and after two weeks, you discover that you haven’t lost any weight this can be very discouraging. But, at least you now you have the information that you need to know and understand that you have to bring down your calorie consumption. Now, instead of 1500 calories you can cut it down to 1300 calories and that should begin to get your weight loss moving. If you wouldn’t have had a calorie counter mindset, then you would have no idea of why you weren’t losing weight.

If you get a calorie counter booklet to help you count your food calories for each meal, then it can help you to accurately assess how many calories you’re eating per day. You should also not rely on your memory to tract what you’ve eaten during the day or for the last several days. Instead get a notebook or a small organizer and record all of your meals with calories. That way you can make sure that you stay on track. Also, if you happen to have a smart phone, then there are applications that you can get that allow you to easily track calories.
