Ionic Detox Foot Bath….

Posted Nov 03 2011 12:01pm

A few weeks ago I bought a sweet Groupon deal for Big Jon & myself that included an hour massage, 15 minutes on a chi machine, spinal stretching on a traction machine, and an ionic detox foot bath. The foot bath was not working when we went, so I had to reschedule for another week.  Big Jon was working late yesterday and couldn’t go, so I decided to invite my sister, Stephanie, who lives in Lawrenceville where the spa is located.  I know she hates to have anyone touch her feet, but I thought if nothing else she would enjoy an hour of peace and quiet (she has two very energetic little girls!)!!!  She agreed and met me up there yesterday afternoon.

The way this thing works is really complicated and boring, but in a nutshell it pulls toxins out of your body through your feet and changes the color of the water. Different colors represent different toxins (which we ALL have, by the way). For example, the orange is inflammation, black is metals we get from tap water and some vitamins, and the bubbly gunk is yeast from alcohol and high carbohydrate diets. The black in the back of the foot bath is toxins pulled from the liver. Our diet, pollution, etc. can all affect the amount of toxins in our body.

Oh, hi there nappy marathon feet! (I seriously wonder if my poor feet are ever going to fully recover from the crazy amounts of miles I’ve put them through!) f 023 f 024 f 025 f 026 f 028

I expected to have a good bit of inflammation and yeast (I’ve been carb loading big time for the marathon!) and I was pretty much right on.

The water was SO yucky looking, but it was definitely a cool experience.  And of course I loved getting some quality sister time!!!
