Indian Summer, Baseball Fever

Posted Oct 09 2011 3:04pm

Is this what they call Indian (Native American?) Summer? 80+ degrees for the past week and no stopping until Thursday. It’s a bit much when I’m trying to bake fun fall food in the kitchen and I’m sweating!

(That’s my dad’s driveway!)

Oh well, the leaves are still turning and I couldn’t love fall more. Not only do I love fall food, but I love fall sports as well. We all know how big a fan I am of the Maize and Blue , but I love college football in general. This fall, we have something special here in St. Louis (and Detroit, for that matter) – fall baseball!

I’m lucky enough to have the two baseball teams that mean something to me, the Detroit Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals, both in the playoffs for the World Series. It’s hard not to immerse myself in Cardinal fever here in St. Louis, but the Tigers still have a special place in my heart. And if they end up playing each other in the World Series (as they did in 2006 – the above picture is from a playoff game in the same year!), I’m not sure what I’ll do!

For now though, I support both teams in their quest to win it all, and because I live in St. Louis, and because the Cards have a friend we call the “rally squirrel” (a squirrel ran onto the field twice now during the playoffs!), I had to make these cookies.

More info on these cookies to come this week but for now, I’ll be in front of the TV, soaking in the fall sportsball :)

Question: Do you watch any sports in the fall?
