Immune balancing act? So far so good.

The band was sick…literally

Is my immune system balanced?  No one can say for sure. All I know is this:  I’ve made it through the fall pretty much unscathed. I did feel the need to sleep in an extra 90 minutes one day, but that’s been the extent of anything close to what one might pandemically call the  crummy, cruddy experience.  And, I’ve gone without shots this season. Which doesn’t mean anything as far as anyone else is concerned. If you feel the need to get a shot, get it.  In the meantime, kids at my children’s high school  were dropping like flies a couple weeks ago, as they were everywhere else I’m sure. I was even sequestered in the high school football field press box for an entire Saturday afternoon and evening during a marching band competition, sharing seats and food with a number of miserable-feeling band directors who should have been home in bed.  So many student musicians in my daughters’ marching band were missing in action they had to cancel their performance that evening.

Now there is talk of the bug  going through a resurgence later this year or early next year, and possibly re-appearing in as a mutated strain for which there is no vaccine. Watch out. It just gets wilder all the  time.
