If I were a dairy product, I would be… GREEK YOGURT!!
There are many dairy products to choose from like milk, regular yogurt, kefir, and cheese. Yet, I choose Greek yogurt over all the rest and here are a few reasons why.
Greek yogurt has a custard-like texture. The straining process for Greek yogurt removes more of the liquid in the yogurt, leaving it creamy and thick.
The versatility of Greek yogurt makes it a winner hands down! Plain Greek yogurt can be used instead of sour cream on a baked potato or replace most of the mayonnaise in a potato salad. Greek yogurt can quickly switch gears from savory to sweet. It can be a dessert-like snack. Try a Chobani Greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom!
Like yogurt in general, Greek yogurt has the healthy little bugs we call probiotics in it. Greek yogurt is more concentrated and has more strains of probiotics- up to six strains compared to the typical two in other types of yogurt. Probiotics research suggests that they improve immunity and digestive health.
Greek yogurt is higher in protein than any other dairy product per serving. A serving of Greek yogurt has at least double the protein of regular yogurt. This protein is a belly bonus because it helps keep you satisfied longer.
Greek yogurt has health benefits and culinary versatility. Why not add it into your diet today! Pair Greek yogurt with a fruit or chopped walnuts for the perfect snack or add it in place of sour cream. You will be pleasantly surprised (and satisfied).
