Go see your family doctor! S/he can coordinate your evaluation & care. Physical therapy would be my first thought. I'd stay away from narcotics but consider other classes for neuropathic pain. Sleep is important but stay away from benzodiazepines such as Valium & Xanax (they're addicting and don't allow you to get to the proper stage of restorative sleep). It wouldn't surprise me if you're depressed, at least mildly so given the chronicity of your complaint, but you want to get yourself out of a funk as that can definitely impact your recovery. Anti-depressants might be helpful but so too would psychotherapy. Proper nutrition is also key so try to avoid junk food & fast food as much as possible. Instead, focus on giving yourself the proper fuel & building blocks to repair itself. This assumes that you've had the typical battery of tests, eg head CT & brain MRI, spine xrays, CTs & MRIs, etc. Sometimes, a pain specialist can help you via injections, blocks, electrical stimulatory devices, etc. In the end, however, my biased opinion is that your family physician can best coordinate & direct your care & recovery, while also advocating for you. Good luck!
