Workout
Livefit Day 76: 1 hour cardio of choice
When I saw that I had pure cardio on the plan for today, I decided I’d go for a run for an hour and see how far I got. If I needed to walk, that’s fine, I just wanted to keep moving.
But, I somehow managed to keep chugging along (stopping only for stoplights) for the entire 60 minutes, and covered 6.35 miles. I haven’t run more than 4.5 miles outdoors in almost a year, so I was grinning ear to ear when I finished this run.
Splits
- mile 1: 9:38
- mile 2: 9:29
- mile 3: 9:38
- mile 4: 9:41 (the worst part about living at the top of a hill: a run is always fun in the beginning, but the turnaround is kind of painful)
- mile 5: 9:27
- mile 6: 9:09 (picking up the pace)
- .35 nubbin: 8:25 (booting it)

Happy face!
(and the bright light is conveniently masking how red/sweaty my face is….awesome).
Although I’m nowhere near as fast as I was last year (a 10k time of 53:18), I’ll take it. Gotta rebuild that cardio base.
This is how I know I’m a runner.

I probably look so damn unpleasant at stoplights, but in reality I’m letting out a sigh of relief that I get a break for a minute or two.
Breakfast
Refuel! (after a shower…god, that was needed).

A toasted whole wheat english muffin topped with goat chevre, jam, and two runny eggs.

Eggs, cheese and jam are my, uh, jam.
Courtney and Julie – you guys were definitely on to something.
I have one of my favourite dinner recipes ever coming at you tonight – look for it later!
<– If you’re a runner, what do you do at stoplights?
<– Morning workouts: breakfast or shower first? 95% of the time, I’m more concerned about getting food in my belly than how bad I probably smell. Oops.
Bam.
