I'll Take My Oats in a Jar, Please

Posted Sep 11 2009 4:54pm
Hi guys,

It's another chilly day in Michigan. But I had an exciting breakfast today! Lately, a handful of bloggers have been using almost-empty nut butter jars as a "bowl" for oatmeal. I've been waiting patiently for my chance to try this :D You just cook up your oatmeal, put it in the pb jar, and swirl it around. The oats take on a wonderful pb flavor, and it's even better than having pb on a spoon or swirling it in--you get full, 360 degree pb power this way!

This was my near-empty jar:

Our beloved Dark Chocolate Dreams. He had a good life. No worries though--his replacement is in the pantry, all ready to go!

I cooked up 1/3 cup oats with a sliced banana, cinnamon + pumpkin pie spice, and a 1/2 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder to give it a chocolaty boost. No pumpkin today--gotta watch out that I don't turn orange!

And I couldn't get a good pic for the life of me (plus I really wanted to eat it. Haha). It was hard cause the jar was deep, so I couldn't get the lighting right. It tasted amazing, though--trust me!

Definitely try this the next time you have an almost empty pb jar!

So I'm definitely going to get out more today, and go for a walk. I went crazy last night after being cooped up inside the whole day. I want to go for a long run so badly! Ugh, I'm totally getting running withdrawal. Is it bad I was planning out all the races I want to do after I can run again? Ha.

Q: Are you doing anything fun for the 4th of July?

I wish I could do the 4th of July race, but oh well. I hope we can go see fireworks, maybe have a picnic or something. What about you?
