I use adapalene aswell and it keeps my acne at bay i use the 1% so if u say that it stopped workin then maybe u shud try a higher dose like 3%, i wouldent advise u to use proactive because i have used it myself b4 and it worked 4 just a few months but it really dried up my skin and left me with crowsfeet, reason being its got benzoyl peroxide which stops working after some time...but then again skins are different so mayb yours is diferrent but thats my experience x

Hi Ronna.  The OTC ingredient that does a lot of good is salicylic acid.  Products that contain at least 1% SA are good, but the higher the better.  Here are some of my suggestions:

Murad Exfoliating Acne Treatment (or the cleanser which is also good) You can get this for a good price online at www.beautydeals.net

In any drugstore:

Phisoderm - it's been around a long time, and with good reason.  It's very helpful.

Neutrogena Acne Treatments - pretty much any of their formulas are very good.

T-Sal shampoo.  If you don't already use a shampoo with salicylic acid, this is a good idea.  You can use this every day, or every day.  It should not make your hair dry, but I would recommend you use conditioner.  I suggest a medicated shampoo because your scalp can carry also be affected by acne, and if it's not treated spread the problem back to your face and body.

My son is 17, and has acne, especially on his back.  Using Phisoderm for face and body works really well, so you can use it in the shower too.
