Middle ear infections are difficult to treat since there's not much blood flow (compared to other body areas) for antibiotics to get in to treat the infecting bacteria. Thus it takes more antibiotic and a longer duration of treatment to effect a cure. Fluid build up can take many weeks to go away (for the same reason of lack of blood flow) and can cause continued issues. I'd suggest that you go back in and have the ear looked at to see of the ear drum is bulging and red. It's possible you might need more antibiotic or just more time for things to resolve.
