How to Use NuvaRing for Birth Control?

Before learning the process of using NuvaRing, let us know what a NuvaRing actually is. It is a petite vaginal ring that can be easily inserted and removed. Positioning the NuvaRing exactly is not essential for enjoying its birth control effects. Once the ring gets inserted into the vagina of a woman, it molds according to the requirements of her body and manages to remain in place. However, in some cases NuvaRing might get expelled accidentally; for instance during removal of tampon, due to strain induced by bowel movement or during intercourse. Below, we have discussed the steps of using NuvaRing:

Wash your hands well and dry it using a clean towel. Now, take out the NuvaRing from the pouch. Hold the ring, between the index-finger and thumb pressing the sides of the ring so that they tend to meet each other. During the process of insertion, you can lie down, stand keeping any one of your legs up or squat. Choose the position that is making the procedure most comfortable. Now, push the squeezed NuvaRing gently into the vagina. In case there’s a feeling of discomfort after the insertion of NuvaRing, slide the ring further until you feel comfortable. As we have mentioned before, position of the NuvaRing has nothing to do with its efficacy. After you insert the NuvaRing, it should stay in your system for three consecutive weeks. Remove it after 3 weeks; the process of removal should be carried out on the same day in which the process of insertion was carried out. For best effects the time of the removal should also be same as that of insertion of NuvaRing. To remove the NuvaRing first hook the index finger underneath the ring’s forward rim; you can also hold its rim between the middle and index fingers of yours. Now, pull the NuvaRing out gently. Dispose it in a place that is out of reach of pets and children. Never throw a used NuvaRing into the toilet. If you want to enjoy pregnancy protection, insert a fresh NuvaRing after a gap of 1 week.
