How to Train for a Half Marathon with Injuries

You don’t… That’s how.

So, I am on day 4 of no running.  Day 4 of no running and a half marathon in 3 days.  My knees hate me and feel like they are just getting worse instead of better.  I’ve been doing everything I can to ice, foam roll, stretch, not run, strength training (well, a little strength training) to heal them.  I’m just not sure if it is working.  I plan on doing an easy 6 mile run tomorrow and maybe an easier 3 mile run Saturday.

I know that I should withdraw myself from this half marathon, but I’m not going to.  I’m going to run for a couple reasons.  1- My work paid for it and they might get mad if I don’t actually run.  2- It counts towards my 9+1 program and I would much rather attempt to run and walk it then not get credit for that.  I’m going to take it easy.  I’m not going to promise myself a PR and certainly not a sub 2:00hr race.

I have my Country Music Half  in Nashville exactly two weeks after this one and I’d much rather save my strength and energy for that one.  They released the medals for this year and I can’t wait to get this! Country Music medal
