Ugly Christmas sweater parties seem to be all the rage lately and, personally, I love them. But what do you do when you just can’t seem to find a sweater that is ugly enough? Easy. You make one.

We looked everywhere for a really, embarrassingly hideous sweater for hubs to wear to a party over the weekend but we just couldn’t fine the one. He jokingly suggested that I could attempt to make him a sweater, because it would surely turn out uglier than anything we could possibly buy.  And, you know, when he’s right, he’s right.

We had some of his really old sweaters stored in a box in the garage, so we decided to go through those to see if we could find a good base for our project. Luckily, there was a cream mock turtle neck sweater with huge red stains down the front that looked like something Carlton Banks would have worn.

It was perfect!!

A quick trip to the craft store and $12 dollars later, we had all the makings for a truly tacky Christmas sweater.

We decided to do a huge reindeer head with big, googly eyes and a shiny red nose. I bought some felt for a whopping 29 cents a sheet to make my reindeer.

At this point, he’s actually looking pretty cute

The stuff that antlers are made of….

You’ll shoot your eye out.

Adding the antlers made him look a little mean.

On the shirt he goes… {and he looks happy again}

Of course, I attached him to the shirt the only way that I knew how. Staples.

Aren’t his lights pretty?

And, of course, you need some embellishments to add a bit of pizazz to this ensemble.

Now, I’ll force husband in to this brilliant piece of fine, high quality craftsmanship.

Don’t be jealous.

I’m totally thinking that I could make a fortune selling these beauts on etsy & ebay. They’d be in high demand.

Pics from the party & the reveal of the Ugly Christmas Sweater party winner will be up later. Also, video of the cinnamon challenge that took place at said party. Good times, people.
