How I Stuck With Eating A Raw Vegan Diet

Posted May 20 2010 12:00am

I started eating an all raw vegan diet on May 12, 2010.  I can hardly believe that a week has passed by and I’m still holding on.

Today, I’ll present you with how I stuck to eating a raw vegan food diet for one week.

Mind Preparation

A few days before I decided that I was going to eat a full blown raw vegan diet, I prepared my mind.  Mind preparation is the key to success with anything you set out to do.

Preparation for me involved motivating myself and understanding my reasons for eating and all raw vegan diet.  Once I moved past that, then I was ready to make it happen.

Food Planning

Knowing what you will eat every day is the key to being successful.  It is always best to keep it simple.  I wrote down how I planned to eat my meals.  Here is what I did:

  • First thing in Morning:  Thai coconut water or water
  • First Meal:  Fruit juice/fruit salad/fruit/fruit smoothie  (I mostly stuck with eating fruit)
  • Snacks:  More fruit/nut milk/nut butter/protein shake/raw nuts
  • Second Meal:  A protein (nut pate) and vegetable salad/green smoothie  (I stuck mostly with  the protein and vegetable salad)
  • More Snacks:  fruit/protein shake/nut milk/
  • Third Meal:  If I had one, was a repeat of the second meal sometimes the nut pate was skipped and a salad is only eaten.
  • Beverages:  Thai coconut water, water, and fresh juices.

Cravings Plan

Strong cravings can sometimes get the best of you, but you must have a plan in place to beat the cravings. Your mind preparation should include how you will deal with cravings and temptations.  Here is how I fought off the cravings:

  • Have food substitutes. Example When I had the crunchy munchies, I ate some raw cereal.  When I wanted something sweet, I ate some fruit.
  • Don’t place yourself in the presence of temptation.  You know you have a weakness for sweets and desserts, don’t walk through the bakery and expect to leave empty handed.
  • Have freshly made juice.  You can make juices that will help you kick those cravings in the butt.

Closing

Eating a raw vegan diet isn’t for everyone, but it can be done if that is your desire.  There was a time, when I thought it was almost next to impossible to eat a raw vegan diet every day, but now I know better.

Your health is your wealth!
