How Do You Think about Failure?

Posted Oct 03 2010 6:43am

Failures, setbacks, obstacles and disappointments are inevitable.  Everyone messes up and fails.  From a mental fitness perspective, success is the result of welcoming failure and turning failure into success.

Failure is often the result of our mindsets.  We dread failure as failure is perceived to be a disaster to be avoided at all costs and destructive to our confidence and well-being.  We must change our mindsets about failure.

To help you change your mindset I have provided the following quotations about failure:

  1. Failure is the breakfast of champions.
  2. Syen Goren Eriksson: "The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure."
  3. Sven Goren Eriksson: "The real failure in life is the failure to try."
  4. Frederick Smith: "Fear of failure must never be a reason not to try something."
  5. Tom Krause: "There are no failures-just experiences and your reactions to them. "
  6. Colin Powell: "There are no secrets to success.  It is a result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure."
  7. Dave Checkett: "Success builds character, failure reveals it."
  8. Stephen Kaqqwa: "Try and fail, but don't fail to try."
  9. Benjamin Franklin: "I didn't fail the test, I just thought 100 ways to do it wrong."
  10. Lille F, Buscalia: "We seem to gain wisdom more readily through our failures than our successes.  We always think of failure as the antithesis of success, but it isn't.  Success often lies just the other side of failure."
  11. David Viscott: "To fail is a natural consequence of trying.  To succeed takes time and prolonged effort in the face of unfriendly odds.  To think it will be any other way, no matter what you do, is to invite yourself to be hurt and to limit your enthusiasm for trying."
  12.  Napoleon Hill: "Failure is nature's plan to prepare youth for great responsibilities."
  13. Anne Sullivan: "Keep on beginning and failing.  Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger and you have accomplished a purpose-not the one you began with perhaps, but one you'll be glad to remember."
  14. Bill Cosby: "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."
  15. Malcolm S Forbes: "Failure is success if we learn from it."
  16. Jim Rohn: Failure is not a single, cataclysmic event.  You don't fail overnight.  Instead, failure is a few errors in judgment, repeated every day."
  17. Roger Von Oech: "Remember the two benefits of failure.  First if you do fail, you learn what doesn't work; and second, the failure gives you the opportunity to try a new approach."
  18. Confucius: "To be wrong is nothing unless you continue to remember it."
  19. "Failure Is not an option."
  20. Chinese proverb: "Failure is not falling down but refusing to get up."
  21. Zig Ziglar: "Failure is a detour, not a dead-end street."
  22. Elmer G Letterman: "A man may fail many times, but he won't be a failure until he says that someone pushed him."
  23. Andre Malraux: "Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not one as better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one's ideas, to take a calculated risk-and to act."
  24. "Success is never final; failure is never fatal."
  25. "Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things.  The saddest summary of our lives contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have."  These quotations provided by Thinkexist.com

I hope that these quotations will help change your mindset or solidify your mindset regarding failures as part of life and stepping stones for living a successful and happy life.
