Home For the Holidays

Posted Dec 03 2012 12:09pm
There is no better place than home for the holidays.  Whether it's your home, your parents home, or any place with special memories, there's something magical about coming home this time of year.

Last week I had a chance to go home for some holiday fun.  I took three days off to travel to Virginia and visit my Mom for some pre-Christmas fun.  Since Virginia and Florida aren't exactly a quick drive apart it's rare that I get the chance to go home before Christmas.

My travel to and from Virginia was easy.  No delays, no headaches, no travel terrors . I flew nonstop on Southwest, which I always love. Easy peezy.

I tried off-site airport parking for the first time at The Parking Spot .
The Parking Spot parking lot is located about 7 minutes from the Orlando airport terminal.  You have the choice of covered or uncovered parking.  I chose covered, which is ironic because my car really needs a bath.
As I was unloading my bags, the shuttle bus was there ready to pick me up.  No waiting, no dragging suitcases.
The shuttle bus seemed really clean and new and the driver was very friendly.  Within 25 minutes of parking, I was checked in and through security.

When I returned to Orlando, the Parking Spot was just as easy to use.  They claim that you won't wait more than 5-7 minutes for a shuttle and they're right.  I saw the shuttle pulling away as I got my bags, but within 7 minutes there was another shuttle ready to take me and 10 other travelers back to the lot.  We were each dropped off at our exact parking spot and given a cool bottle of water.  What a great idea to help recover from dehydrating travel.
If you can't get a friend to drop you off at the airport, I would highly recommend The Parking Spot for your next trip.
Mom and I spent our days together doing fun holiday stuff, eating homemade chex mix, and going to the gym.  We took a special trip to Colonial Williamsburg that I'll share tomorrow.

Here are a few highlights from the trip Lots of healthy, colorful meals Decorating my tree with ornaments from childhood Decorating the pumpkin, duh! Boomer helping me stretch What's your favorite part of being home for the holidays?

Love and Christmas memories,
Carissa & Kyle
