Holy bananas, Batman!

Posted Jan 06 2010 12:00am

I was totally the banana queen today.  I bought a 3 pound bag of bananas at Target (and they were big suckers) and incorporated them into almost every meal today.  They are a little green, which is exactly how I like them.  So I feel like I have to eat them before they get, gasp…. BROWN SPOTS!!!

Breakfast was a nutella and banana sandwich.

My bread had a little hole in the top where the warm nutella seeped through :)

Have you ever seen the show “ Six Feet Under “?  I know, totally random change of topics.  But I just finished watching the first season of it, and I love it.  I can’t wait to watch the second season.  I love that dark humor.

In contrast to my dark side, I had a lunch that was light.  Lots of white.  A big salad with romaine, zucchini, carrots, crab meat, egg whites and goat cheese.

With olive oil and vinegar, of course.  I think this was the only meal I manage to eat without a banana in it!

Mid-afternoon, I went to the gym.  When I walked in, literally every single machine that I could see was taken.  It was absolutely insane.  I went into the locker room and when I came out, I got totally lucky and someone was just getting off of the stepper.  So… stepper it was.  I did 30 minutes on the aerobic program.  I could tell right away why the person had gotten off of it.  It was a squeaky one!  Did you ever get one of those?  Pretty embarrasing… every time my left foot stepped down…

But I’ll be damned if I was going to give up my machine in that packed gym.  So I made everybody listen to my squeaking for a half an hour.  I just put on my ipod and pretended I couldn’t hear it at all.  Even though I could.

When I got home, I had another banana sliced in some cherry pomegranate yogurt.

And then, since I was still hungry…  another banana.

I tend to go all or nothing, can you tell?  You know… go big or go home.

When S got home at 7, he wanted to go out somewhere.  But Wednesday nights I always have to work.  I swear, that man… he never wants to go out and do anything during the week, except for the one night of the week that I can’t go out.

We compromised and went to downtown Los Gatos for a coffee.  It was really nice.  I always thought I was immune to caffeine, since I have been drinking coffee since literally I came out of the womb.  But the last time I had a coffee at night (which I have done a hundred times before with no problems… but forget that fact…) I couldn’t sleep that night.  So I decided to go with decaf.  And it was nice, since I got decaf they didn’t have any ready-brewed so they made me a fresh cup all for me.  It even had foam on the top.  I haven’t had that since Switzerland!

When we got home, I made dinner in five minutes before I had to call into my meeting.  It was a veggie chicken patty, some carrots and some goat cheese.  Classy, right?

My dessert was classy, though.  During my meeting, S went to Dairy Queen and picked up his dinner.  He also got a banana split.  Since I was on a banana kick all day, I thought – I will show him!  So I made my own banana split, which I guarantee you was a lot healthier than his!  Mine had vanilla frozen yogurt, a huge nanner, homemade strawberry sauce with real strawberries, and some hot fudge and caramel.

Look at this baby.  And in my Sponge Bob bowl, no less.

I heart Spongey.

But after downing that sucker, I was freezing cold.  So I heated up some vanilla almond milk in the microwave and added a little bit of honey.  It was perfect!  And I broke out a new toy that my Mom got me for Hanukkah.  Check this out:

It’s a heating pad/stand for your hot drink that you plug into the USB on your computer and it heats up and keeps your drink warm!  Totally nerdy, totally awesome.

So… four bananas down, four bananas to go.  Think I can finish them tomorrow?
