According to the CDC, each year more than 10,000 high school athletes in the United States will suffer from a heat related illness. As more and mores high school athletes gear up for fall sports, it is important for coaches, parents and athletes to take extra precautions in order to prevent heat related illness. High school students who participate in football, soccer, softball or cross country running may be the athletes most affected because their sports predominantly take place outdoors in the hot August sun.
