Hello From the Abyss…

Posted May 16 2014 12:05pm

Just thought I’d write a quick mobile post while sitting in the passenger seat of our car on our drive back to Rhodey for the weekend to attend a family function. I’ve been MIA again…popular theme with me right? Life has been and continues to be totally crazy as we are still settling into our new life down in North Carolina.

March and April were pretty much total whirlwinds with packing up and getting our home in Rhode Island ready for the market, moving down and unpacking the new house in North Carolina, and getting the kids used to their “new normal” in daycare full-time. Never mind ME getting used to work and being “the new girl”. Even though it’s with the same company there are days where I feel like it isn’t–each business unit has their own way of doing things and I need to transition in that regard. It’s been a big transition for all of us but slowly we are starting to settle into our new life.

The house is still a mess, the rooms are not painted, stuff is still not in its proper place, our house in RI is still not sold. I’m just getting back to running and even thinking about Crossfit again in the near future. But despite the fact that we’re still fairly unsettled I’m telling myself it’s all OK. It’s going to take time for me to not just tread water, but to actually find the current and swim with it. When I DO catch that current, man it’s going to propel me places I only ever dreamed of.

As much as I miss my family and friends in Rhodey, I can see glimpses of how good my life will be down in North Carolina. I will have a better work-life balance thanks to a MUCH shortened daily commute (ummm, hello new 40-minute commute each way instead of 1.5-hours!!). The weather, despite me needing to get used to the heat and humidity that is already here in early May, will allow me a much longer training season for running. The hills, while they may mock me now, will make me a stronger runner. And really so much more opportunity to spend time with my kids…so I continue to ask you to bare with me a while longer until I find that current and am able to post more regularly. I appreciate your patience!

–Dani :)
