Each Monday, a simple health tip and challenge will be posted as part of Healthy Monday . Healthy Monday is a public health initiative founded in 2005 in association with Johns Hopkins University, Syracuse University, and Columbia Univerisity.
Their mission includes ending “chronic preventable disease in the U.S. by offering people and organizations a weekly prompt to start and sustain healthy behaviors.”
The Tip: The average amount of TV watching here in the United States could be as high as 8 hours per day . Yikes. Add that to time on the computer or playing video games and that’s a lot of screen time. A little less might do us all some good.
The Challenge: Today, on this Healthy Monday, spend 30 minutes less with screen-time and use that time to go on a walk. That’s it, just 30 minutes. See if it does you any good – physically and mentally.
