Allie and I started Friday morning off at 8:30 am, a lot later than most HLS attendees! Everyone likes to get up at the crack of dawn :)
We opted to go for a walk along beautiful Lake Michigan. The breeze was much needed as it was another oppressive day! There was a nice little walking/running/bike trail that we followed. And we enjoyed beautiful views along the way. We look so small compared to the buildings!
We had such a nice, brisk, walk and ended up covering 3.2 miles in just under and hour.
I was starving by the time we got back to the hotel so Allie kindly gave me an Allie Bar to tide me over until brunch. Not only are these healthy but they are amazingly delicious! You should probably contact Allie to try some.
After cleaning myself up I met up with Sarah , Haya , and Mary and we made our way to Lula Cafe in Logan Square for brunch. This restaurant was highly recommended to Haya . (photo credit – Sarah @ The Shu Box )
It was very cute and hip! Loved the menus.
And the food was out of this world! Seriously. I was in heaven. I was also ridiculously starving (story of my life recently) but I’m pretty sure I still would have enjoyed the food just as much had I not been ready to eat my hand.
After I perused the menu it was clear that I was in the mood for breakfast, not lunch. I ordered a frittata with spinach, onion, and cheese and on the side came delicious potatoes and sourdough toast. I kind of want this for breakfast again tomorrow.
After brunch we made our way back downtown for a architectural boat tour! We all felt the need to do something Chicago-ish.
Despite the blazing heat and humidity, it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the city! Chicago has the most amazing architecture. It was so nice to just chill out on the boat for an hour and take a break from traipsing around the city!
Friday night was the Healthy Living Summit cocktail party which was held at LaSalle Power Co. (photo credit – Allie – Live, Laugh, Eat )
It was the perfect location to hold the cocktail party and I had such a great time mingling and meeting new people.
For a full recap of the food, drink, and fun, I suggest checking out Allie or Diana’s blog!
After day two I was even more in love with Chicago! If only the winters weren’t so darn frigid :)
