Healthy Living Summit Day 2

Posted Aug 15 2010 5:29pm

Allie and I started Friday morning off at 8:30 am, a lot later than most HLS attendees! Everyone likes to get up at the crack of dawn :)

We opted to go for a walk along beautiful Lake Michigan. IMG_4743 The breeze was much needed as it was another oppressive day! IMG_4744 There was a nice little walking/running/bike trail that we followed. IMG_4745 And we enjoyed beautiful views along the way. IMG_4740 IMG_4747 We look so small compared to the buildings!

We had such a nice, brisk, walk and ended up covering 3.2 miles in just under and hour.

I was starving by the time we got back to the hotel so Allie kindly gave me an Allie Bar to tide me over until brunch. IMG_5274 Not only are these healthy but they are amazingly delicious! You should probably contact Allie to try some.

After cleaning myself up I met up with Sarah , Haya , and Mary and we made our way to Lula Cafe in Logan Square for brunch. IMG_5275 This restaurant was highly recommended to Haya . lula's (photo credit – Sarah @ The Shu Box )

It was very cute and hip! IMG_5279 Loved the menus.

And the food was out of this world! Seriously. I was in heaven. IMG_5281 I was also ridiculously starving (story of my life recently) but I’m pretty sure I still would have enjoyed the food  just as much had I not been ready to eat my hand.

After I perused the menu it was clear that I was in the mood for breakfast, not lunch. IMG_5281 I ordered a frittata with spinach, onion, and cheese and on the side came delicious potatoes and sourdough toast. I kind of want this for breakfast again tomorrow.

After brunch we made our way back downtown for a architectural boat tour! IMG_5285 We all felt the need to do something Chicago-ish.

Despite the blazing heat and humidity, it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the city! IMG_5298 Chicago has the most amazing architecture. IMG_5305 IMG_5310 IMG_5315 It was so nice to just chill out on the boat for an hour and take a break from traipsing around the city!

Friday night was the Healthy Living Summit cocktail party which was held at LaSalle Power Co. cocktail party (photo credit – Allie – Live, Laugh, Eat )

It was the perfect location to hold the cocktail party and I had such a great time mingling and meeting new people.

For a full recap of the food, drink, and fun, I suggest checking out Allie or Diana’s blog!

After day two I was even more in love with Chicago! If only the winters weren’t so darn frigid :)
