After the beautiful fall season winter has arrived full force. The winter season brings with it a cold wind that can bother our eyes.

Our whole body needs more care during the winter season, and of course this includes our eyes. Sometimes people tend to forget about the eyes.

Do you remember those days? Those days when you were asked to gulp down a glass of water with a cod liver oil capsule, dropped in your mouth, after your meal? That should have been sometime when you were in the early ten’s or so, if you tried and remembered. Whoever asked you to do so; you owe lots to them, for they have contributed towards your healthy eyesight. It is a known fact that, at least 45 to 50 percent of the common population suffers from Eye problems, due to various reasons. The most prevalent Eye issues are poor eyesight including dry eyes and Eye twitching. Normally, eye problems begin in newborn and children aged between 5 and 20 years. People aged between 40 to 80 years are also victims of Eye twitching and blurred eye sight. While poor eyesight is due to the lack of essential elements like iron and vitamins, dry eyes is caused due to the deficiency of antioxidants such as omega 3, which is richly present in cod’s liver and flax seeds.

Eye twitching is caused mainly due to stress or genetic disorders. If treated on time, one could foresee better results. Pollution and climate changes also are the causes for Eye dryness. In addition, if your eyes feel some sort of itchiness, it is recommended that you wash them with cold water and apply a cold ice pack on it for a few minutes. If the problem still persists after this home treatment, consult an eye physician, who could put you on a healthy diet menu for a few days or weeks together and provide you with multiple options for combating the dryness. It may be with oral medicines or cornea transplantation, if required as for chronic cases are concerned. These treatments will considerably reduce the eye dryness and will get rid of your insomnia related problems, if any. The antioxidant property of omega 3 or flax seeds play a vital role in reducing evaporation of tears from the eyes, which in turn, helps them stay immune to subsequent disorders. Use quality sunglasses on your eyes that will help you reduce your eye problems, rather than considering it only for your better looks.

Keep the aforesaid tips handy and protect your eyes on time!
