grapes Grapes have been a favorite fruit of humans since times unknown. The archeological research shows that grapes have been grown in several Asian countries even prior to 5000 BC. Grapes were used by Greeks, Romans and Egyptians as an exotic fruit. It is one of the most favored fruit all around the world even till date.  There are many variants of grapes. Some grapes are grown as raisins and some are also used to make wines. Apart from the good taste, grapes have a significantly high nutritional content.

Grapes have high nutritional value with good amounts of vitamins and minerals. One cup of grapes have 16 grams of protein, sixty two calories, .9 grams of fiber and also 14.5 gm of sugar.  Grapes contain several Vitamins like Vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, C and E.

Having grapes on daily basis improves your cardiovascular health. It prevents the formation of blood clots which helps in lowering the risks of heart attacks and other conditions. Everyday consumption of grapes lowers the levels of bad cholesterol.

Grapes are excellent for the health of your eye sight. It helps in preventing eye problems associated with old age including macular degeneration as well as loss of sight.

5. Infections:
Resveratrol in grapes also prevents fungal and bacterial infections. This compound is also known to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. 

6. Laxative:
Grapes have organic acids, cellulose and sugar in it which makes it a good laxative as well. Having grapes everyday in your diet is an effective aid for constipation.

7. Colorectal cancer
Having appropriate amounts of red wine helps in reducing the risk of getting colorectal cancer.

8. The magnesium present in grapes aids muscle contractions.
