Happy Thanksgiving friends! I hope your day is full of football, good food, and even better memories with family and friends. This year, we are keeping up the tradition of “ Friendsgiving ” just with different friends (Ashley – we miss you!!). One of the hardest party about being an Army wife is being away from my extended family. I definitely miss my parents, siblings, niece, and nephews today. However, I am lucky that I have my Army family to fill the void.
Today we will be going over to Heather’s house and spending our day with her family. I made sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, and cheddar sage biscuits all from scratch. I am extremely excited to stuff my belly silly.
Beyond the food, today is about giving thanks. I have so many amazing things in my life for which I am thankful. I am thankful that I believe in such a loving God who has blessed me more than I could ever imagine. I am thankful that I have an amazing husband, one who provides for our family and selflessly serves in the Army to ensure that Emmalyne grows up in a free country. I am thankful that I have the most amazing little girl . One who fills my day with sunshine and teaches me about unconditional love and perseverance daily. One who reminds me to find the joy in the smallest things. I am thankful for my parents and in turn step-parents. I have four people who love me the way I love Emmalyne. I am thankful for my sister Heather, her husband Mark, and their three amazing kids. I am thankful for my 2 younger brothers and 3 step-siblings. I am thankful for my friends, near and far, because there are certain friends who truly are family. I am thankful that my extended family includes 17 aunts and uncles, their spouses, and too many cousins to count. We have enough love to power the world.
